Southern France – La Joie De Vivre

Southern France is definitely among the places one has to visit at least once in a lifetime. And if you get lucky, you will take away more than you ever expected. But I’ll explain that a bit later.

Our trip was planned in advance. This certainly played a huge role, given we were travelling around Easter when the prices were spiking. The great thing about the trains of SNCF and the hotels is that you get really good deals if you book them at least couple of months in advance. Keep that in mind.

We set for Lyon as a first stop. The city is the original french gourmet capital. One can get to savour the local cuisine at best in Vieux Lyon quarter. On top of that, the local wines are simply amazing. Don’t go for the bottles, ask for vin de la maison (the house wine). For 10 days, we were not mistaken even once. Restaurants cater to their customers in the best way possible and wine plays a huge part in the whole user experience with the service. They know it and you will know it.

Italia, Italy…

It is always hard to write about experiencing Italy. One returns from a trip to The Apennines thinking that photographs will be worked on immediately, the text for the blog post will be written, and the frames to go with it will be exported and ready for upload. Then life strikes and one is carried away…

Two years later, here it is – the proof an epic ten-day journey starting in Bologna and finishing in Naples. That very trip that took us to Florence, Sienna and Rome on the way to our last stop. And the exploration of places, architecture and tantalising culinary wanderlust.

Maravillosa Sevilla

Two weeks ago we took a weekend trip to wonderful Sevilla – a treat for the senses. The architecture is simply amazing, the food is more than delicious and witnessing a flamenco performance is simply extraordinary.

Upon arrival, the Sevillian heat hit us hard. It was nothing like the one I was used to in any other places on this earth I’ve visited or lived in. It was dry and persistent, embracing you with no way for you to escape its hug unless you get inside with the AC fights it successfully off. However, it was not strong enough to even make a difference while we were exploring the city.

Again, I found it difficult to pick up the camera and take a picture of everything that caught my eye. Besides, the sun was so strong, that I hardly doubt any photograph would do justice to anything I would try to picture. Alcázar de Sevilla, Plaza de España, the Catedral de Sevilla, la Giralda, and Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla were all visited during the day when the sun is high in the sky. I took, however, some pictures.

Emilia-Romagna Bits

This is not the usual photo gallery from a trip to the Italian province of Emilia-Romagna. It is really hard to stay away from the historical and architectural sites of cities like Bologna or Parma, or the world famous lasagna and parmesan cheese, both so famous about these two places, for that matter.

I tried to point my camera at the unusual, while I was there. I was looking for frames that will either capture a moment or something showing the feeling one gets in Emilia-Romagna. I think I managed to do so, at least for my own benefit in the days to come. As for you… I’ll let you decide on your own.

Cesky Krumlov – A Day Trip

Cesky Krumlov (Český Krumlov) is yet another proof that Europe is old. This southern Czech city is an exhibit of times long gone, but yet preserved for the generation to come to see and admire. And it justifies completely itself as a UNESCO heritage site.

One autumn day, we have joined forces with a fellow traveller – Emil Stefanov, and hit the road bound northeast of Munich through highways and small roads, hills and valleys and the picturesque golden clothing of the woods. It was simply a fantastic day trip.
