Christopher Street Day 2016 LGBT Munich Pride

Every year Munich celebrates Christopher Street Festival, an event dedicated to the LGBT community in our city. It culminates with the Munich Pride march, which this year was particularly interesting.

As usual, the parade was colorful, loud and filled up with hundreds of smiles. The music was boosting from the vehicles and the rainbow flags were waved high and proud. But what made it particularly interesting, was the fact that there were more people attending and watching than any other Munich Pride we have attended.

Visualizing The User’s Data

The end of this working da was marked by the two presents two major social networks Twitter and Foursquare made to their users – visualized usage history.

On one side Twitter joined forces with Vizify and on the other Foursquare with Samsung Galaxy 4. Both campaigns are using big data (at least in the case those super users on their platforms). And as much as it is a treat for the socializer, it is also a great marketing effort. An attempt to attract new users and strengthen the relationship between the social network and its real gold – the tweep or the location based sharer. It also shows us how much exactly someone can learn about our behavior based on what we do and share with the world online.

My relationship with you, Twitter, started late. I met you during the spring of 2009 and I became the 30-something-million toddler playing in the sand box. Since then many things has happened in our relationship. I used you and abused you. I was faithful and unfaithful. I treated you nicely and sometimes not so much.
